Bats in fruit netting

Bats in fruit netting 2018-04-08T20:34:43+00:00

Project Description

Every year thousands of animals are injured in inappropriate netting of backyard fruit trees, or discarded netting. It entangles birds, lizards, snakes, bats, possums and more. Learn a lot more about this topic on our wildlifefriendlyfencing website and click on the Netting menu.

We get very few rescues of bats caught in netting but it is very common in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Anyone using netting should monitor their trees early every morning incase wildlife have become entangled, and have a rescue phone number handy. The netting can cause horrific injuries because of the tourniquet effect of the nylon strands.
